Apoteosis san Vicente Ferrer

The Historical Institute of the Dominican Province of Hispania is an institution created by the Provincial Chapter of Caleruega 2021. In its acts it was entrusted to unite the preceding Historical Institutes of the Province of Spain and Aragon, gathering their publications and documentary collection.

Its aim is to be a cultural and academic association made up of historians, art historians, theologians, philosophers, philologists and specialists in other disciplines, whose purpose is the preservation, research and dissemination of the history of the Order of Preachers in Spain and the other places where its friars carried out their mission over the centuries.

To achieve this goal, it proposes to carry out or promote systematic studies and research projects, organizing colloquiums, scientific seminars, conferences or congresses and making the results known through periodical scientific publications. It also promotes the publication of monographic works, ranging from critical editions to monographs, collective works or didactic guides. A specific point of its nature is the collaboration with other working and research groups belonging or not belonging to the Order of Preachers. Finally, it seeks to promote young historians, both members and non-members of the Order of Preachers, in subjects related to its objectives.

The publication organs of the Institute are the annual journal Archivo Dominicano and the series Monumenta Historica Iberoamericana de la Orden de Predicadores of Editorial San Esteban Edibesa.
