Historical Archives of the Province of Hispania

The Province of Hispania was created in January 2016 with the union of the Dominican provinces of Spain, Aragon and Betica.

In its first chapter, it was determined that the historical archives of the former provinces would remain in the old provincial seats and that the Dominican Historical Archives of the Province of Spain (AHDOPE) would custody the documentation generated in the new Province of Hispania.

Thus the Province of Hispania has three historical archives:

  • Archivo Histórico Dominicano Provincia de Hispania in Salamanca: AHDOPE (S).
  • Archivo Histórico Dominicano Provincia de Hispania in Valencia: AHDOPH (V)
  • Archivo Histórico Dominicano Provincia de Hispania in Sevilla: AHDOPH (Se)

The three historical archives are managed in close cooperation with the Historical Institute, and their extensive collection of documents is their most valuable asset.
