Identifying the voices

It is thanks to the fact that the Historical Archive of the Monastery of Montesión is kept at the Institute's headquarters and to the collaboration wit the Grup de Recerca en Arxius d'Església, part of the Secretariat d'Arxivers Eclesiàstics de Catalunya, that it has been possible to undertake this ambitious project. The goal of the project is to create a database on the monastery, organised according to the nuns who lived there until 1838.

First of all, the Llibre de Professions (Ms. 44) was emptied and then the documents or bibliography concerning those nuns deposited not only in the monastery archives but also in other archives or libraries were listed. Whenever is possible, a link to the digitised documentation has been provided.

The database remains open and is constantly growing. We would therefore be grateful for any contributions via our contact page.

The project will be officially presented on 15 May at the Pedralbes Monastery, within the framework of the "IV Jornades Internacionals de Patrimoni Musical: Música en femení segles XVI - XX", which will be held in Barcelona between 14 and 16 May 2025.
