Montesión Monastery Historical Archives

The Royal Monastery of Our Lady of Montesion of Barcelona was founded by Mary of Aragon (1299-1347), daughter of the king James II of Aragon and queen Blanca of Anjou, in 1347. Closed in 2019, the community gave the archive of the monastery to the province of Hispania.

Its collection of documents, undoubtedly one of the most important for the study of the feminine contemplative life in Catalonia, can be consulted to this day at the headquarters of the Historical Institute in Barcelona.
