IHPHOP participates for the first time in SAEC meeting

The annual meeting of the Secretariat d'Arxivers Eclesiàstics de Catalunya (SAEC), which brings together the main ecclesiastical archivists of Catalonia, whether diocesan, capitular, parish or religious orders present in the Principality, was held on Tuesday 1 July 2025 in the city of Barcelona.

The Historical Institute of the province participated for the first time in the person of its technical secretary, Josep Maria Busquets Frigola, both because it is an institution linked to the history of the Church in Catalonia and because it houses the Historical Archive of the Monastery of Our Lady of Montesión.

At the meeting, various topics related to ecclesiastical archives were discussed, such as their future, their conservation, the current location and preservation of women's convent archives and issues related to musical archival heritage. It was also announced that an International Archives Congress will be held in Barcelona at the end of October, in which the SAEC will also participate.

After the meeting, some of the participants met for a meal at the invitation of the organisers.
