The three volumes of the Acta capitulorum provincialium Provinciae Sanctissimi Rosarii Philippinarum constitute an essential collection for the study of the Dominican Province of the Most Holy Rosary of the Philippines from its establishment in 1588 until 1878. Originally printed in Manila, this collection systematically records the decisions of the provincial chapters (elections of superiors, disciplinary orders, assignments of friars and pastoral and doctrinal resolutions), enabling one to trace the evolution of a complex and geographically extensive province. The repetition of regulations reflects both institutional continuity and adaptation to changing political, social and cultural contexts. A central feature of the collection is the attention
given to the mission, marked by persecutions, martyrdoms and cultural conflicts, as well as by strategies of evangelisation and community organisation. Likewise, the obituaries and prayers for the living and the dead
contributed to the construction of a collective memory based on faithfulness, sacrifice and discipline.
The recovery and complete digitisation of the three volumes, hitherto only partially accessible, has been made possible thanks to the determined initiative of the IHPHOP, in collaboration with the Provincial Archive of the Dominicans of the Province of Our Lady of the Rosary and the EVANFE project of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, which offer the academic community a source of exceptional value for the ecclesiastical, cultural and missionary history of the Ibero-Asian world.
