Dominicos en Andalucía: priores, conventos e iconografía (spanish)
On 17 May 2025, the 11th edition of the Conference on the Dominican History of the former Province of Betica was held in the Chapel of the Rosary in the parish church of Santiago el Mayor in Utreta (Seville). The Andalusian Society of Dominican Studies, with the sponsorship of the Historical Institute of the Province of Hispania of the Order of Preachers (publisher of this volume of proceedings) and the collaboration of the City Council of the city, the parish of Santiago and the Brotherhood of the Gypsies, was able to make a new scientific meeting for a better knowledge of the Order of Preachers and its legacy in these lands of southern Spain a reality.
With the help of prestigious professors and researchers, these proceedings will allow us a significant approach to various Dominican realities in different areas of the former province. In fact, the so-called ‘Extremaduran Siberia’ is present for the first time in this conference, as will be explained throughout the text. It was also an excellent opportunity to showcase the important Dominican heritage of the host city.
